My mouser (outdoor) tom cat is a big dude, it has a head the size of a softball. In September I saw a black bird dog wander into my yard and it went for my cat. Ol' Tom stood his ground and when the dog got within reach he jumped on the dog's head and clawed and bit it savagely. When he turned the dog loose it took off like a rocket. So maybe your dog can't eat my cat...
